We love Blink-182 and are thrilled that Blink’s bassist and Fuse TV host Mark Hoppus has started his own YouTube channel and will be giving us studio updates with his own brand of weird sincerity. In this week’s webisode, Mark shows off some of the vintage musical gear being used to record Blink-182’s latest album. Let’s just hope the studio engineer can get rid of that irritating amp hum we can hear in the background throughout this vid.

The currently untitled album will be the first record by the band in way too many years.

According to an Angels & Airwaves (guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge’s other band) press release, Blink 182 won’t be releasing their new album until 2011. The release said:

“Meanwhile, DeLonge says that Blink-182 is planning to record its new album soon and is talking with its label, Interscope, about a 2011 release. The group also intends to play European festival dates this summer.”

Its been seven years since Blink 182 last released an album.

Check out the new teaser clip from the upcoming Blink 182 film The Blinkumentary. Guitarist Tom DeLonge describes the new album as “the record of our life” and “probably the most ambitious songwriting”. Blink 182 enters the recording studio this month.

Pete Wentz Mark Hoppus

Bassists Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 and Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy have recorded a track together for Tim Burton’s upcoming big screen adaptation of Alice In Wonderland.

“The track sounds nothing like Blink or Fall Out Boy,” Wentz told MTV. “Mark understands songwriting on a completely different level. It’s awesome to have a chance to sit in a room with him and watch him work out a melody.”

Blink 182 announce 2010 European Tour Dates

Blink 182 has confirmed their first European dates since they reunited last February. Bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus recently posted:

“I have been asked to announce that Blink 182 are once again heading back over the pond for a few weeks of touring in Europe during the summer of 2010,” he said in an official statement.

“Exact dates and schedules are going to be released over the next couple of months by the promoters,” he added. “We’re very excited to get back on the road overseas this next year. See you at the shows!”

Two of the band’s confirmed shows include the Area 4 Festival in Oberhausen, Germany on August 21 and the Highfield Festival in Hohenfelden, Germany on August 22.

Blink-182 returns? Bassist Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 tweeted this today:

“listening to demos. might produce a few things before blink-182 goes into the studio in january.”
