Trent Reznor and collaborator NIN producer Atticus Ross are offering up a download of five free music tracks from from the upcoming David Fincher film “The Social Network”. The film score is dark and stark, not surprisingly. “Musically, this all came out of our secret laboratory — electronic in basis, but mostly organic sounding,” Reznor writes. “Lots of experiments and emphasis on sound fraying around the edges while focusing on the proper emotional tone for the various scenes.”
You can check out the full track list and download some of them here.
On a related note, Reznor adds, “regarding the purchase options, sorry about the ‘clunkiness’ of not offering the full record digital download pre-sale (and having to visit Amazon). My agenda was to be able to offer this for the lowest possible price and this was the best way to achieve that. Amazon has been a great partner with past projects and I appreciate your understanding.”
Despite the fact that Nine Inch Nails is currently selling off their gear on eBay, frontman Trent Reznor revealed that new NIN material will be released in the new year. In a news post on the official NIN website Reznor said, “2010 has a number of things planned including new material from nine inch nails and something else that isn’t nine inch nails. I am in a state of rediscovery and reinvention that feels unfamiliar, unsure and exactly what I need.”
With Nine In Nails‘ future in question, Trent Reznor & Co. have decided to auction off a ton of band gear on Ebay.
A statement from the band on their official website reads:
“We do not know which (if any) tour these items are from unless specified, nor can we get any items autographed, so please do not ask. Hundreds of items will be listed over the next several weeks such as guitars, keyboards, amplifiers, drums, staging, anvil cases, cables, rack/outboard gear, guitar effects, and pedal boards.”
